Mark Phillips serves as our Lead Pastor. Mark joined us in February of 2020 after serving in various ministry positions at Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington, Ohio for the past 24 years. Mark and his wife Jan have been married for 36 years and have two adult children and three grandchildren.

He serves on the board of Our Father’s Project an inner-city ministry that strives to be fathers to the fatherless. He also serves on the board of the Brockstrong Foundation that works to spread the legacy of kindness exhibited by Brock “B-Rock” Johnson.

Wherever you find Mark, you are sure to find laughter and fun. His challenging and uplifting messages are an inspiration to grow to be a better person and follower of Christ Jesus. Mark enjoys watching sports including his favorite team the Cleveland Indians, an occasional round of golf, traveling to Disney World and reading. Christian has been serving as worship leader since early 2020.  Recently married to his beautiful bride, Katie they made their home in Cuyahoga Falls.  Christian's love for music has become since an important part of the ministry at Discover Church.  Katie plays an important role on the tech team.  We are so blessed to have them as part of the church ministries.

K ylie has been part of Discover Church since she was a little girl.  She graduated from The University of Akron for a degree in education.  She currently is Teacher Sub at the Copley School District.    Kylie 's passion for children has brought excitement, enthusiasm and passion to the Children's Ministry @ Discover.  Kylie has a love of cats, plants and children of all ages.  As the Children's Ministry Coordinator, she oversees each of the children's areas and is eager to share Jesus with your child through lessons, arts and crafts and music.

Erin Wesig  joined the staff of Dis cover Church in February of 2020. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 19 years and they have a 13 year old son, Seth, in addition to several four-legged family members. Erin was a graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary's High School in Akron and attended Eastern Michigan University. In her free time Erin spends most of her time in the garden, reading, or attending Seth's sporting events.

Rick is a widower and lives in Stow, grew up in the Massillon area and graduated from Perry High more years ago then he cares to admit!  He is a semi-retired Network Administrator and has been involved with IT for  20+ years.  When asked recently, “What do you do at the church?” he said, “I fix stuff and make it work!”  Rick enjoys having breakfast with his buddies and being out on a trail somewhere in a UTV with them.  Favorite food is Mexican, favorite beverage is Mt. Dew.  Rick's favorite saying:  One must first possess something before one can loose it. Rick has been a member of the church for about 10 years and is blessed every day he wakes up!

Debbie is one of the founding members of Discover Church.  Along with her husband, Al & several other families they started the church in their side yard in 2002. Debbie loves the church and serves in whatever capacity is needed to bring people closer to Jesus.  The church started with a mission of reaching out into the community to share the unconditional love of Jesus.  To follow that mission, the church is very active in providing family events such as Touch-A-Truck, Trunk or Treat, Shred it and many more.  Debbie has been married to her husband Al for 33 years.  They have  5 children and 8 grandchildren and of course, one dachshund!  She loves to read and enjoys beach vacations.  

Penny was born in Akron Ohio, the youngest of 8 children. She has two grown sons, Paul and Charles. She resides in Wadsworth. Penny does the church cleaning at Discover church along with other odds and end jobs. Penny has owned her own cleaning company for over thirty years and takes great pride in keeping Discover church clean and sanitized.  In her spare time she loves reading the bible, a good cup of coffee, spending time with her family and friends.  Penny also likes hiking, gardening and watching a good movie.
